“THE NEW NORMAL will have its debut this Monday, September 10th on NBC, and PFLAG National wants to make sure the cast and creators of the show know that we have their backs, and they have our viewership!
This is YOUR opportunity to counter the message of the so-called One Million Moms, who denounced the show as attacking traditional families. As mothers, you would think they would be more responsible in how they talk about other people’s kids, and how their comments resonate with the MILLIONS MORE parents, families, and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people—and LGBT people themselves—who are already LIVING the “new normal.” Or as we at PFLAG like to call it: Family.”
Since I will not be able to march with PFLAG at the Pride parade on Saturday, I made a sign to support my lovely LGBT friends anyway. This is my current Facebook Profile picture. Happy Pride!
I was officially voted onto the board of PFLAG San Diego last night. Quite a busy start to Pride week!
Busy weekend four day weekend coming to an end… Picture dump. This is from the Harvey Milk Diversity Breakfast on Friday morning. I volunteered for a little while ushering people to their tables, then I sat with PFLAG. I was honored, they gave me one of their free tickets. Over 1,000 at the breakfast. Very inspiring.
I had a great day. Despite the rain and having to stay inside with the kiddos at work, they were well behaved and it was rather calm. After work I went to the gym and did 45 minutes on the elliptical…. 2nd day in a row. I am determined to get back on track. Tuesdays will be my days off for Glee… unless I have things on another day during the week that will stop me from working out, I will work out on Tuesdays. I came home and curled up on the couch and watched Stripes on Netflix - so funny. Then I went to my first PFLAG meeting.
PFLAG was great. Met a lot of new people. Funny, two of the guys from Stonewall Citizen’s Patrol were there giving a presentation. They called me up to speak as a new volunteer. And then at the end of the night the lady who runs the meetings asked me if I would ever be interested in speaking as a straight ally at a meeting someday. I thought that was very flattering.
Now I am home. Waiting for Gary to get home. Drooling over Adam Lambert’s album cover that just got released, and planning my birthday party at Babycakes and my Birthday/Graduation celebration dinner. Happy things.
